Pupils from Tarbert NS were honoured to be invited to the Kerry Launch of John Coolahan’s most recent book ‘Towards The Era Of Life Long Learning’ and the Inauguration of his Education Lecture Series in Tralee Education Centre on October 5th, 2017. To mark the event the children took part in a tree planting ceremony in his honour. The Irish Tree Trail who supplied the tree are delighted as the planting of the tree will be counted as one of their million trees planted with school children by 2020.
Director of the Tralee Education Centre Caitríona Culloty thanked the children for their involvement saying “This is such a momentous occasion for us that John would honour the Centre in this way so we are deeply grateful that we can include his family and children from his old alma mater.” A great evening was had by all.
Tarbert NS would like to thank John also for the gift of his book ‘Towards a Memoir’ which reflects on his youth in Tarbert and his Fifty-eight year career in Education and the Arts. We are proud of our distinguished and humble past pupil! Míle buíochas!
