1916 Easter Rising

Local historian and poet, Gabriel Fitzmaurice, visited 5th and 6th Class to talk to them about the 1916 Easter Rising. He focused particularly on the role played by Volunteers from Kerry during the Rebellion – The O’ Rahilly, Austin Stack, Con Colbert and Thomas Ashe. The boys and girls enjoyed his storytelling immensely. He also sang, “The Lonely Banna Strand” and “The Foggy Dew” for the class. We would like to thank Gabriel for his informative and inspiring talk.
