To commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising and to celebrate 100 years since the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, we were delighted to welcome members of the Defence Forces who delivered a National Flag to our School on Wednesday 14th October.
Members of Óglaigh na hÉireann, in uniform, formally presented the National Flag in front of our whole School to David, a 4th class pupil in a special ceremony. The Proclamation was read by Sergeant Denis McGarry and Amy, one of our 6th class pupils
We learned how the National Flag should be cared for and the protocol that surrounds this vibrant symbol of our nation.
